CC4Computers for Communities, as part of their partnership with Habitat for Humanity National Capital Region, recently donated a computer to the Abdi family (see picture left), a  Habitat NCR household that did not own one.  Computers for Communities (C4C) is an Ottawa-based non-profit that seeks to bridge the digital divide by helping those people who cannot access technology by exchanging volunteer hours, and through partnerships like the one with Habitat NCR.

C4C has committed 10 computers to Habitat for Humanity National Capital Region partnership families. It has delivered six computers and is working to distribute the remaining four  in the coming months.

Carleton Place Build
We welcome Platinum Hammer Sponsor Tiree, an Ottawa based property development company currently managing the extensive renovations to the
west Block on Parliamnet Hill. Tiree has committed $75,000 towards the building of Tiree House. This Carleton Place build will start in late September with more details to be announced later.

Habitat for Humanity NCR is looking to purchase a bungalow (1/2 double preferably in the Walkley-Heron Rd. area) for one of our partner families with two special needs children.

We are looking for a reasonably priced home in need of renovation that we can make accessible for a family of 7 with a 7 year old in a wheelchair. It is important they be close to CHEO where 2 of the children make frequent visits.

Even with full time employment, and 5 children to care for, the parents are approaching their goal of the 500 sweat equity hours necessary before they receive the keys to their new home.

If you are interested in selling your house or know of someone who is, please contact Donna Hicks, CEO at 613-749-9950 ext. 222.
