Hey Folks,
I am wondering if for our May Work Day (May 25) we could maybe bring a
bunch of systems out to the meeting place and install fresh Ubuntu on
them or at least set up a system that we can do this easily.
Due to the lack of a decent internet connection at Centre Pointe, Ben
Franklin Place I was thinking that we could use CloneZilla. I have no
experience with this setuip but I know others on this List (eg. Pierre) do.
This is what I was thinking.
1. We setup a cloneZilla dedicated server (maybe on one of our workshop
laptops)
2. We bring a bunch of network patch cords and 20 port switch
3. We bring out a bunch of systems 5-10 (I would need people to help
pick them up in Barrhaven)
4. Save on peripherals by using a couple of KVM's (2), a couple of
monitors (2), keyboards(2), mice (2).
Perhaps a couple of people would volunteer to come out to Barrhaven on
Wed May 1 to help set everything up and sort through parts in storage to
find what we need.
Pierre, can you provide a copy of the image you are currently using? I
could pickup the compressed image on DVD when I drop off the other stuff
this week.
To pull this session off I would be looking for someone to take the lead
and ensure everything is good to go and organized.
Any thoughts?
My questions:
1. how do you take a stock Ubuntu image (12.04 LTS) and modify it for
use in CloneZilla (eg add software, extra resources etc)
2. do we use CloneZilla Live or SE?
3. Should this be installed on a laptop we also use in the labs or
should it be dedicated to only cloning?
4. Who is interested in this as a potential event for next month's VWD?
