Hey Folks,
Thanks for joining the Computers for Communities tech list.
This list will serve many purposes in the coming months but to start off
we will use it to organize the next round of computer refurbishing.
I thought I would start things off by pointing out what most would think
of is common sense, but we should clear the air on for the record (after
all this will live in the archives)
This list will be used for the following activities:
=====================================================
* announcement of computers requiring refurbishing
* volunteer requests to pick-up and drop off computers for refurbihsing
* requests to have a computer delivered if you lack transportation
* A tool for networking with other technically minded folks for
troubleshooting during a refurb process on a C4C computer
This list is NOT designed for the following:
===============================================
* Sharing baking recipes or generally anything NOT related to Computers
for Communities
* technical questions about other popular operating systems that C4C
does not use (like Mac and Windows)
* Technical questions to fix your own computer
* Technical support for specific software outside the scope of
refurbishing or supporting C4C systems
* Do not share person information like phone numbers or addresses.
Please connect offline for specifics of where to pickup the computers
and where they will land.
Ground rules:
==============
Like any list this one will develop its own culture. But for complete
disclosure the following are our starting point for ground rules
* If you have a question check the archives to see if it has alrteady
been answered:
http://lists.ncf.ca/pipermail/c4c-tech/
* not fowl language. If you would not use language or tone with your own
child, parent, grand child or grand parent then that language has no
place here
* no flame wars (insulting an individual or name calling or bullying)
* There is no such thing a stupid question, but not all questions can be
answered here either.
Let me know if there are any questions and we can update this as time
goes on.
