Announcements:

1) Novice Training Day

It's coming up! We will be holding novice training day Wednesday, January 10th at CO-214 (In ResCom, on campus). It will start at 9:30 am, and there will be a delicious free pizza lunch, and an excellent debating seminar held by Mike Powell and Adam Coombs.

2) Winter Carnival

This tournament will be held from January 16-18 in Montreal. It is usually pretty fun (come on, it's Montreal!) and both judges and debaters who attend are extremely high quality. Please post regarding your interest before Saturday, January 10th. We hope do decide who will be attending after the training day.

3) Regular Meeting Times

For now, these will be held at their usual locations and times, which are:

Wednesdays 7:00pm CO 214 , Fridays 4:00pm in TB 432

If you are unavailable for both times, please either send me a message at President@carletondebate.org, or post on the relevant thread on cusidnet.

4) Business Meeting Times

There was overwhelming support to have the meetings on wednesday night, so we'll hold them Wednesday at 9:15 pm. Agendas, as per the constitution, will be posted two days in advance.

5) Levy announcement

CUSA would like to attach all student levies to the CPI (Consumer Price Index). In other words, our levy would increase with inflation. We are supporting the ballot measure.

6) Discussion regarding $20 tournament fees

As per the constitution, we're obligated to charge members a $20 fee per tournament. As this has not been acted upon, I would like to open up discussion as to whether this should occur. Whether people are charged this fee will be finalized during a business meeting, of which everyone will be informed. Also, there will be a discussion on Cusidnet.

I hope you all had a restful holiday, and see you at training day :)
