Carleton University Debating Society Member,

In this email:
Novice, Case Tips on offer at this Wednesday's meeting
Allen Middlebro, the most recent CUDS Member to win Nationals, will be back this Wednesday January 21 to offer tips on debating and suggestions on cases. He will be coming to the regular meeting Wednesday at 5:30pm in 411 Southam Hall. This should be an excellent session for all those attending either Winter Carnival or the North American Championships who want to vet their cases.  This event will supplement our regular debates. Even if you aren't interested in the session, you can still come out to the meeting to watch or partake in a couple of rounds.

Additionally, those with little or no debating experience should make a point of coming out (don’t worry if have to you show up late or leave early) to get an introduction to valuable techniques.
Regular Meeting Room Changed
This winter, CUDS will meet every week in 411 Southam Hall:

You don’t have to come out to both meetings; we hope that one of the dates and times will work with your schedule. Everyone is welcome to come out; no experience is required. Feel free to come late or leave early if necessary.

Note that the room has changed because the Scheduling office kicked us out of our old room (304 Dunton Tower) after an extra tutorial group needed the space. In future, all CUDS regular meetings will be held in 411 Southam Hall.  This is in addition to CUDS President Mike Powell's case-building session in the Mike's Place grad bar every Wednesday between 1:00 and 2:30 pm.

If you see an advertisement around campus that points to the old room, please take it down or advise the Vice President for Communications, Joshua Prowse

CUDS is accepting applications from all those interested in judging at this weekend's Winter Carnival tournament at McGill.  Winter Carnival 2004 will take place January 23-25. Visit the CUDS Clubs Days Table
January 20 and 22 are CUSA Clubs and Societies days.  Each day, CUDS will have a table in either the Baker or Loeb Lounge to promote the club and answer questions about what we do and how people can get involved.  If you haven't been much involved in CUDS this past year, stop by our table to chat about what the club is doing and what we can offer to you.  If you can volunteer to staff the table on either day, sign up on the appropriate thread on the CUDS message board
