Dear Friends:
Some of you have questions about the Vivint contest so I thought I would pass the
information on to everyone. The reason the National ME/FM Action Network is excited about
this project is that since Canada can participate, our organization ranks 3rd. However,
we are over 10,000 votes away from the Canadian leader.
Contrary to what I announced yesterday, you have to be on Facebook to vote. I had checked
it out by going on the Vivint site but hadn't noticed the details. It doesn't pay
to get too excited :)
Lydia
Do I have to be a registered Facebook user to participate in this program?
Yes. The nomination and voting process will take place at
vivint.com/Givesbackproject. To
vote, you will need to use your Facebook login information. However, if you are not
currently a Facebook user, you can sign up so you can participate.
Why do I need to become a fan of Vivint and provide access to my information? Will I
receive email communications from Vivint by becoming a fan?
The purpose of becoming a fan of Vivint is so that administrators are able to track
participant votes. It also allows you to spread the word about the Project because you can
comment on the charities that you vote for, and notify friends about the program. We hope
that you will use the fan page to create awareness about the opportunity charities have to
receive donations from Vivint's philanthropy fund. It has no direct tie to
Vivint's business mail or email campaigns.
Is any charity eligible to be nominated for the Vivint Gives Back Project?
In order to be eligible in the four U.S. regions, a charity must be a 501(c)(3)
organization that is serving the general public in its work. Also, since the focus of the
Project is to find local charities that are influential in their communities, the
organization must have an annual operating budget of less than $50 million. If you are not
sure about the qualifications of the charity you would like to nominate, nominate it
anyway. We will figure it out for you. In the Canadian region, a charity must be
registered as a charitable organization with the Canada Revenue Agency. Additionally,
before any donation is made to a Canadian charity, the organization must submit
documentation demonstrating that it is the equivalent of a U.S. 501(c)(3) public charity.
For more detailed information on the program and how you can find out if your charity is
eligible, read the official rules.
