HAPPY NEW YEAR OLG!! THIS IS THE 2ND ATTEMPT AT SENDING OUT THE NEW PROGRAM AND HOPE YOU ALL CAN HAVE A LITTLE FUN WITH IT. NOT SURE WHAT HAPPENED TO THE FIRST DRAFT I HAD ALL COMPLETED AND POOF! IT DISAPPEARED--BUT WILL ATTEMPT A NEW DRAFT! THE SUBJECT IS ON YOUR FAVORITE TYPES OF BOOKS & WRITING STYLES WITH A FEW QUESTIONS BELOW TO HELP YOU GET ON WITH IT.
1. Are you a reader? What are your favorite types of things to read, including a favorite book/books,
magazines, newspapers, computer literature, history, poetry, comics, religious, fact/fiction, etc. I love to read, mostly books, but also local newspapers and some magazines. My favorite genre is mysteries, but I also like feel-good books and historical novels. I prefer reading a real book rather than my Nook, but I like the Nook when I travel. I subscribe (free) to BookBub where I get lots of good books for much reduced prices.
2. Do you write? Letters, newspaper articles, stories, poetry, journal/diary, etc. Ever been published? I have never been published, except maybe a Letter to the Editor, but I do like to write letters. In the old days, when newspapers published local news, I did have articles printed, verbatim, about sorority doings. I took journalism in high school and learned about good journalism. Too bad our current media don't remember that opinions should only be in Opinion columns and isn't considered good reporting! I wish I had kept journals of our travels. I have several journals that I started, but after a few days, my writing tapered off and I never finished them.
3. Do you have a favorite author/s? J.A. Jance is my favorite mystery writer. Debbie Macomber writes good "feel-good" books. David Baldacci ranks high on my list. I actually have a long list of authors I read faithfully. I have read all of Tony Hillerman's books and now his daughter's on Hopi/Navajo Indians which are mysteries but they give a lot of background, too.
4.. Do you read the comics? Have a favorite? Pickles is my absolute favorite--Jeff and I found ourselves there many times.
5. Can you figure out the modern day computer language, such as "LOL" means laughing out loud? List
one for us to figure out but don't give the answer, let's see what we get! LO I am not good with computer language. Other than lol and tyvm, I am illiterate!
Hope you enjoy sharing your literary mind with us!
Love,
Program Chairman Dell
