I had forgotten about Ireland--duh!  Jeff and I went to Ireland with another couple and had a wonderful time.  It is a beautiful country--and the Guiness is also great (better than what we get here in the states).  I especially enjoyed the tour of the Waterford Glass plant--really beautiful glass pieces.

Hugs, Lucille

Subject: [OLG] Re: OLG MARCH PROGRAM

I never have celebrated St. Patrick's Day very much but love the playful and colorful vibes it omits, like bright colored rainbows, bright Kelly green shamrocks and funny little leprechauns.  My parents did like and made corned beef and cabbage but I wasn't, and still am not, really fond of it.  I like to watch Irish dancers and especially Michael Flatley's Riverdance group performances, my FAVORITE!!  They are spectacular!!  I don't wear Kelly green except at Christmas but do have plenty of shamrock Mardi Gras beads I got when we had our online gathering in Shrevesport at Shirley Kelly's and did get them at the MG parade.

My land chapter meets at a Victorian home that caters our lunch and at every March meeting the owner serves corned beef, cabbage, carrots and potatoes so I do enjoy that--(sort of).  This coming Monday is our meeting and as president I always try to have a social activity and I make up small gift bags with a paper holiday theme mask, candy and small gift.  I found some green fortune cookies that have Irish fortunes and a Mardi Gras shamrock necklace and paper mask for this one and have them ready to go, thanks to Amazon!!  I think Irish legends, myths and songs are magical and joyful in nature and remember my dad singing "Oh Danny Boy", "When Irish Eyes Are Smiling" and "My Wild Irish Rose" and other Irish songs in his beautiful tenor voice.

I have not been to Ireland so can't write about that but in movies, etc. it always seems the country is very beautiful.  I've been to Irish pubs in California and they were great fun, especially years ago when they had piano bars and we could sing all night and drink plenty of my favorite, Bailey's Irish Creme.  It's so good in coffee too.

Sure n'begorrah, I hope you can share your Irish favorites with us and that you find that pot o'gold at the end of a rainbow.  Happy St. Patrick's Day and may the saints protect and keep ya!

Lucky shamrocks,
