I'm Dell and a member of Online Gamma and hope you'll join us! I live in northern California and have been in OLG a long time so am well acquainted with many of the members and they are all great sorority sisters! Are you presently a Beta Sigma Phi member on leave or do you have chapters in Giza? In 1976 a group of us did go to the Greece convention, then flew down to Egypt, visited the areas around Cairo, then on to Luxor and Aswan so did see the area where you live. It was an adventure of a lifetime!
We don't do too much in our online chapter and many of us are also in a land chapter--right now I am president of our active chapter here in the little town of Gridley located about 50 miles north of Sacramento. I have been a BSP for 64 years and still find it a wonderful organization and although our land chapter is busy, I really enjoy meeting more new sisters and love that about being in an online chapter.
The main thing we do online is a Program once a month and athough it is not mandatory, it is really fun to read other people's answers to the chairman's monthly question. We do Roll Call about four times a year and have lots of casual chatter and some just enjoy reading what the noisy ones are chatting about!
Every year or so we have put together a gathering and all meet somewhere in the US. a cruise or Mexico, etc. We've been on hold since the Covid kept us home but there's always one being planned--just in case! Usually we have had around 15 attend along with a few husbands or sig. others. Some of the places we've been include Key West, Shrevesport during Mardi Gras, Cocoa Beach, FL, Dallas/Fort Worth, Chicago, Denver, Albuquerque for the balloon festival, Sacramento and north to Chico, CA, Mexico/San Diego, Las Vegas + times, Savannah, Charleston, Prescott, AZ, Branson, Missouri, Williamsburg, VA and Ohio and the Amish country just to name a few. We don't do business meetings because we do not have business, just friendships and enjoy sharing our common interests. We have even given rituals while on some of our gatherings.
I am a retired middle school teacher, art and English, have three grown daughters, three grandchildren who are all out of or in college at this point--I spend time doing theater mostly summer/fall melodrama productions and love to travel. I have stayed active on our BSP state area council board and we travel up and down the state all year visiting and planning for our state convention usually held in May. Didn't have one in 2020 and there won't be one this year because none of the big hotels can accommodate our sizeable group until the virus is over. This has been a quiet year for sorority around here but my chapter has had meetings in our homes or a facility that will cater lunch for us and we find plenty to keep us busy, mostly just have fun.
I do hope you will join us and know you will find it a comfortable group who are very caring and friendly.
Your sister,
Dell DeMeyer
