Sorry about that, it's caused by people
sending unsubscribe notices to the list instead of using the proper unsubscribe
procedure as Adrian Cho explains here:
Like most of us I am getting sick of the spam from this
list too. My spam message here is in the interests of reducing the
needless broadcasts:
a) If you have a message for Jim please
send it him only and not to the entire list
b) If you want to unsubscribe stop sending messages to the
list, go to the web page that was in the e-mail you received when Jim subscribed
you to the list (without your permission I might add) and do the business
there.

This link allows unsubscription without everyone on the list except me
know about it.
I simply transferred the list everyone has been on for some time
to Freenet and I'm setting controls on what can be posted to the list so that
should help if everyone uses the process Adrian reminds us
of.
There was no choice in the format change, unfortunately, with the
problems I was having with the Changes made by

your weekly list of "what's going on" but since you changed your format, and
particularly in the lst week or two, I'm no getting all the musicians
e-mails and also some of the messages from unhappy subscribers wanting to
