This is just a reminder on
gig listings as mentioned below by Brett Delmage, Editor, Ottawa Jazz Happenings
that to have your gigs highlighted to people who may be interested,
there are deadlines to ensure the word gets out soon
enough.
For Liz Syke's Ottawa
Blues This week, normally sent out early in the week to her list, it's also
a good idea to send a gig listing as early as
possible to ottawablues@gmail.com
In the case of the Ottawa
Blues, Jazz and Swing Guide DIY calendar, it's also timely to remind those who
wish to post their gigs on line, it's better to post them sooner than later on
that calendar. See graphic DIY guide at this link:
http://ottawa-blues-jazz.ncf.ca/MonthsCalendar.html .
As you probably know, I
send out my Ottawabluesandjazz list mailing from time to time to approx 350
subscribers when there are noteworthy gigs I feel should be
highlighted that appear on the calendar at my discretion.
So, if a gig
is posted on the calendar, it's more likely to be highlighted and get better
play to your potential audience as the Brian Brown gig at NAC 4th Stage this
Saturday was in the 27 October mailing. Even if I don't send a mailing for the
week of the gig, more people are likely to see it if
posted.
Message from Brett Delmage:
Ottawa Jazz Happenings and JazzWorks Connections - 30 October 2008 -
Update
Several interesting
performances by talented local and international
musicians were submitted to
us after the Sunday night deadline this week.
We didn't want you to miss the
opportunity to hear them, so we are
issuing an update this week.
A
Note to Performers
--------------------
Please submit your event notice as
soon as you know about it, even
if you do not yet have all the details. We
will list your special event for
two editions if we receive your information
early enough.
We keep track of upcoming events well into the future and
already have
events recorded up to May 30, 2009. Every local venue has
failed to
provide timely or complete information at some time - so please
let US
know directly about your event if you want people to know about
it.
Send your gig notices to OttawaJazzHappenings@JazzworksCanada.com . Please
do NOT send notices by replying
to this email -- they'll tend to get lost.
We also welcome notices about
unusual jazz events from readers, as some
organizers fail to get the word
out, or are unaware of Ottawa Jazz Happenings.
We never mind hearing twice
about an event; that just makes sure it gets
in the
list.
Thanks!

Breathtakingly eclectic, unpredictable and unconventional, the
10-piece

musical signature is inspired by fanfare, theatre and vaudeville. The
musicians' infectious and energetic performance leaves no one in their
seats. Over the past several years, the ensemble has toured Western
Europe, Russia, Australia, India, China, Japan, the United States and
Canada with spectacular success.
Led by the master of jazz
improvisation Willem Breuker, all the
orchestra's members are superb
improvisers and curious journeymen, who are
not afraid to cut across
tradition and convention with experimentation in
search for innovative ways
to express their creativity.
