For those of you who missed it, I just thought I would let you all know
that Saturday night's house concert at the home of Dulce Ibarra and
Gonzalo Wills (68 Kamloops) was a sold-out success. The Latin American
based jazz by Carlos A. Santana and his Jazz Trio, full of the unusual
beats from Cuba, Brazil, Argentina and Mexico -- rumba, tango, salsa,
bossanova -- it was all there to carry the winter-weary audience on a
trip to warmer climates. The three extremely talented musicians played
their way through two 45 minute sets that went by far too quickly.
The Wills family had organized the house to accommodate 73 people.
Guests were invited to bring a small appetizer if it was convenient and
something to drink. There was wine, good company, food and wonderful
music.
And if that wasn't enough, they raised $865 in support of
Childplay International! That will cover almost two full
months of operating expenses at the Women’s Shelter Playgroup project
in Lima, Peru.
So, Dulce and Gonzalo really deserve a big round of applause for
putting together such a fun event for such a good cause. There are
rumours that they might do it again. If that happens, get your tickets
early!
