One step closer to resolving the digital divide
by Christopher Cope
Hello Advisors,
I hope you all will view this video about the just launched project called "CommuniFi" project: [ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P7Y8cHRaCkc | https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P7Y8cHRaCkc. ]
The project is a partnership between National Capital FreeNet, CIRA, Ottawa Community Housing and Hiboo networks (Ottawa Hydro) and goes a long way towards bridging the digital divide for people especially in need. It's a 10-minute video, but well worth watching to the end. This model can be replicated just about anywhere.

Message seeking support:
We are in the midst of creating a new ISOC ONTARIO CHAPTER and need to
provide 25 names of supporters to our application
The chapter will fill a huge void in Canada's largest province and an
English speaking group to highlight Internet issues in the province. We
have completed the application and bylaws and the ISOC Staff is vetting
the application and our goals. One of the main events in 2026 will be a
North American School of Internet Governance at one of Ontario
Universities ( to be determined) and an online speaker series
showcasing Ontario leading Internet companies and advocates
Please join ISOC as an individual member at the following link, no
obligation or cost

Welcome new member Adam Hunt & misc.
by Marita Moll
Hello advisors. Please join me in welcoming Adam Hunt, a new member to
the TC advisors group. Adam is a long time member of the National
Capital Freenet and a wikipedia editor who took on the task of creating
the TC wikipedia entry. Although now mainly retired from this work, he
has authored many, many wikipedia entries over the years -- including
the entry for NCF. Adam also writes reviews for Full Circle magazine on
the Ubuntu family of Linx operating systems.
Please note that we are still using a split mailing list with some
people on the ncf list and others on the tc.ca list while we wait for a
new version of the tc list to be installed. So please send any messages
to both these lists for the time being.
Finally, Happy May holiday Monday -- aka Victoria Day, National Patriots
Day (Que) and for me, the official start to planting things outside day
-- although here in Ottawa, it is far to cold to do that today. 🙁
