Post-Secondary Information Night
Wednesday, November 19th, from 7-9 pm, in the NHS auditorium there
will be rep's from Ottawa U, Carleton, Algonquin and the Ministry
(trades). Each rep will do a 15 minute presentation and then we will
open the floor to questions and have a panel discussion. Topics
include: scholarships, admissions, offers, deferrals, costs,
residence, campus life, etc. Grade 11 and 12 NHS students and their
parents are invited. For more information, please contact Dan

Update from NHSPC (2008/9 #8)

The next School Council meeting will be October 21, 2008 in the
library at 7:00 p.m. We hope to see you there!
We also hope to see you at our "Gala Fund Raiser", taking place at
the School on Thursday, November 20, from 7 - 10 pm. Details at
http://nepeanhs.ocdsb.ca/gala/gala.html. Tickets are $30 in advance
and $35 at the door.
Academic Awards Night will be held on October 22 and Parent Teacher
Interviews will be held on November 6th. The NHSPC plans to have Gala
tickets available for sale at both these events.

At the June 23, 2008 Board meeting, Board directed staff to consult
on the expansion of French Immersion programs in the district. The
June report focused on, but was not limited to the following:

Establishment of Middle French Immersion (MFI) programming at the
following schools_:

2) Bells Corners P.S. to D.A. Moodie I.S.
3) Bridlewood Community E.S.

NHS Parent Fundraising Gala - November 20

The first NHS Parent Fundraising Gala is fast
approaching. Tickets are now on sale for this
November 20 event via the order form which went
home last week with students; the form is also
available on the school's web site at
www.nepeanhighschool.com. You are encouraged to
get your tickets early to take advantage of the
discounted price ($30 in advance, $35 at the
door).
The Gala will take place from 7 to 10 pm in the
school cafeteria on November 20. Plans for the
event are shaping up well - in addition to
delicious international-themed hors d'oeuvres
supplied by famed local caterer Dave Smith, live
musical entertainment will be on hand as well,
including several talented student acts as well
as jazz vocalists Quintessence.
To meet our fundraising objectives, a silent
auction will take place throughout the evening
and exciting donations are pouring in, including

tour, complimentary champagne, $100 complimentary
dinner at New Dubrovnik and then the limo ride

Parent Information Night and Other Updates

The 4th Annual NHS Parent Information Night will be held Wednesday,
October 8, 2008, 6:15 p.m.- 7:00 p.m. in the Nepean HS Resource Room
