Update from NHS

Many thanks to Bev Mckee and Carol Teskey and all of their helpers
for a fantastic Parent Teacher Appreciation Breakfast. The smell of
the fresh baked goods combined with the lilac flower arrangements
were overwhelming. The teachers, administration and custodial staff
were most grateful.
Do not forget the Alumni Event coming on June 6th at Nepean. See

Ms. Smith, the Head of English has requested that anyone with books
that they would be willing to donate to her for use in the "Drop
Everything and Read" (DEAR) program to please leave them in the
office to her attention or alternatively to give them directly to her.
And finally before you close another great year at Nepean High School
could you please mark on your calendars for next year two dates:
The Annual General Meeting, Election of the new Executive and the
first Parent Council meeting for 2008-2009 will be on September 16th
in the Library at NHS at 7pm.
The "Tools for Learning" first ever annual event will take place on
the evening of Thursday Nov. 20, 2008 at 7 pm at NHS. More details to
come about ticket prices etc. This event will be a fund raiser.

Funds are used to support programs in the school.

Nepean High School Council Meeting - May 20

Just a quick reminder, the May meeting of the Nepean High School
Council will be held on May 20, 2008 in the library at 7:00 p.m. All
members of the NHS community are encouraged to attend. This will be
the lasts meeting of the School Council during this school year.
Please also note, this year's NHS Drama production of the musical
"Chicago" will be held this week May 14-16 in the auditorium.

NHS at Ottawa Race Weekend - MDS Nordion 5km Run/Walk

Dear Parents, Students and Community of Nepean High School,
Ottawa Race Weekend is quickly approaching (May 23,24,25), and Nepean
High School has created a team of students, teachers and parents to
run in the MDS Nordion 5km run/walk, in order to help raise funds for
Canadian Athletes Now Fund

the National Charity for the Race. Information is now on our school

Here are the details:
What: Fund Raiser for Canadian Athletes Now Fund supporting Canadian
Olympic Athletes
Who: Students, Teachers, Parents, Community of Nepean High School
When: Saturday May 24, 5pm (MDS Nordion 5km)
Why: To Support Canadian Athletes as they enter this summer's Olympic
Games in Beijing
Our Goal:
The goal is to have 208 students run in this year's race . Our
fundraising goal would be $6000 - this amount would "sponsor" one
athlete. Top fundraisers in each grade get a prize, and all
participants receive a $50 gift bag at the race.
How:
You can help in one of two ways:
1) race with our team - go to

choose the option to "join this team" (even if you're already signed
up to race a different event, you can still join our team! Also,
every student that fundraises $208 gets their race entry paid for)
2) not race, but donate to our team - again, go to the link above and
select "sponsor this team" (sponsorships of $25 or greater get an
immediate email with a tax receipt)
***All students must registered to race by Tue May 20th to ensure
that they have a race number
***Please feel free to forward this email to your friends / family so
that they can help out our Team Nepean !
