ANN. SUPPORT GROUPS & SPECIAL BENEFACTORS THANK YOU
by Lydia Neilson
Dear Friends:
We will have a special section under the conference heading once our web designer has finished the location for it. However, in the meantime, we have placed that information on our Home Page, in the News section.
We are in the last stretch for the conference but donations are still an absolute necessity and would ask those who can give to do so. The program agendas for both the medical professionals and patient/general public are now available in detail from the IACFS/ME website at http://www.iacfsme.org as well as registration details.
The question asked is whether or not private individuals can attend the medical sessions which they can, if they register for it, except for the medical workshops.
Hope to see you in September.

ANNOUNCEMENT: A SPECIAL REQUEST
by Lydia Neilson
Dear Friends:
Although this may be repetitious to some of you, please allow me to remind everyone as well as inform others who may not be aware of the Vivint Contest which gives the National ME/FM Action Network a chance to win $100,000. You need to vote daily and must be registered on Facebook as it is the way Vivint is tracking the votes.
The contest is from June 14th to August 27th, 2011. An easy way to do it is to go to the National ME/FM Action Network website at http://www.mefmaction.com and scroll down and click the Vivint logo which will lead you to the voting or go to
http://www.vivint.com/givesbackproject/charity/855 on Facebook.
The National ME/FM Action Network ranks 3rd in the top 20. However, the leader is about 11,000 votes ahead and has a strong international following. No. 2 position and us No. 3 are close in votes.
For the National ME/FM Action Network to have any chance we must pull all our efforts on the ones who have a chance to win. If your favourite you are presently voting for is way down and doesn’t have a chance of winning, please consider voting for us. We have a proven track record and are presently in the last stages as host for the IACFS/ME international research and clinical conference to be held in Ottawa from September 22nd to 25th, 2011. For those who are not familiar with our accomplishments, they can be viewed on our website. The National ME/FM Action Network spearheaded the drive for a clinical case definition, and diagnostic and treatment protocols for ME/CFS and FM, The Canadian Consensus Guidelines!
Your efforts voting for the National ME/FM Action Network is not in vain as the timing is excellent to get people to become aware of ME/CFS, FM, MCS and chronic pain who not normally would be exposed or in need of contacting us. Here is a chance to become an ambassador for our cause and to spread awareness by voting and spreading the word. Opportunities are few and far between where we have a chance to enlist the help of family and friends to spread the word. A unique exposure in free advertising about illnesses where research and support is so important.
Due to confidentiality reasons, I am unable to name names but we have patients so ill who are bedridden but have taken on playing a role that occupies their very little energy as they want to do their part in spreading awareness. Thank you so very much for all your efforts and wanting to make a difference.
A special thank you to Tessie Tess, Alison R., Aileen, Joanne S. and Marly our little liaison army.

ANNOUNCEMENT: VIVINT CONTEST DETAILS
by Lydia Neilson
Dear Friends:
Some of you have questions about the Vivint contest so I thought I would pass the information on to everyone. The reason the National ME/FM Action Network is excited about this project is that since Canada can participate, our organization ranks 3rd. However, we are over 10,000 votes away from the Canadian leader.
Contrary to what I announced yesterday, you have to be on Facebook to vote. I had checked it out by going on the Vivint site but hadn't noticed the details. It doesn't pay to get too excited :)
Lydia
Do I have to be a registered Facebook user to participate in this program?
Yes. The nomination and voting process will take place at vivint.com/Givesbackproject. To vote, you will need to use your Facebook login information. However, if you are not currently a Facebook user, you can sign up so you can participate.
Why do I need to become a fan of Vivint and provide access to my information? Will I receive email communications from Vivint by becoming a fan?
The purpose of becoming a fan of Vivint is so that administrators are able to track participant votes. It also allows you to spread the word about the Project because you can comment on the charities that you vote for, and notify friends about the program. We hope that you will use the fan page to create awareness about the opportunity charities have to receive donations from Vivint's philanthropy fund. It has no direct tie to Vivint's business mail or email campaigns.
Is any charity eligible to be nominated for the Vivint Gives Back Project?
In order to be eligible in the four U.S. regions, a charity must be a 501(c)(3) organization that is serving the general public in its work. Also, since the focus of the Project is to find local charities that are influential in their communities, the organization must have an annual operating budget of less than $50 million. If you are not sure about the qualifications of the charity you would like to nominate, nominate it anyway. We will figure it out for you. In the Canadian region, a charity must be registered as a charitable organization with the Canada Revenue Agency. Additionally, before any donation is made to a Canadian charity, the organization must submit documentation demonstrating that it is the equivalent of a U.S. 501(c)(3) public charity. For more detailed information on the program and how you can find out if your charity is eligible, read the official rules.

NATIONAL ME/FM ACTION NETWORK - VIVINT VOTING
by Lydia Neilson
Dear Friends:
First of all, thank you so very much to those who have voted for the National ME/FM Action Network in the Vivint Gives Back contest. It gives our organization a chance to win $100,000 which would assist us tremendously with our many projects. As we are dependent upon memberships and donations, a boost in funds would be of great help.
Vivint has added Canada to its contest and right now voting can be done through Facebook. However, for those who do not wish to register on Facebook, there is the other option to vote through Vivint's website at:
http://www.vivint.com/givesbackproject/vote?region=1&view=rank#center-view
Please continue to vote daily and thank you so much for considering our organization worthy of your help.
