Mark,
Perhaps you can circulate this story about our corporate band to your distribution list. Thanks!
Ottawa corporate rockers success!
Earlier this year, BTI Systems--an Ottawa-based high tech company--entered a band in the “FORTUNE Battle of the Corporate Bands” contest. This annual event (this year marks the 10th edition) features the very best corporate bands in North America. It was a great achievement to be named as one of the eight entrants in the eastern final, but Pete Dale and Dealmakers did not rest on their laurels. They competed against some highly talented bands at BB King’s in Nashville in June, and managed to win a spot into the finals that will happen in early October at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland. They were also honoured as being the first Canadian band to make it that far, so we are very proud of their achievement!

This is not only a great story, but also a great opportunity to showcase some local talent. Please reply to this email or contact John Mills at 613-796-8070 if you’d like more information. They will be playing a warm-up show at Greenfield’s Pub in Barrhaven on Wednesday, September 22nd so please come out and show your support.
See you soon
John
p.s. Maybe you can bring your harmonicas to Greenfields on September 22nd.

I am looking for background music for the grand opening and official Ribbon Cutting during lunch. The Grand opening and Official Ribbon Cutting is Wednesday, October 27 at Beacon Heights, 2201 Montreal Road in Ottawa. The Celebration begins at 11:00 a.m. and the ceremony concludes at 12 p.m. Lunch is served from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. and for that hour I would like jazz to be played.
Please let me know if you are available, and what the cost would be.
Thank you,
Ronna

The OBS is exploring the feasibility of adding a Solo/Duo competition to
this year's Road to Memphis. We invite anyone interested in competing

both categories.
For the purposes of the IBC, a 'band' is any act with three or more
musicians; vocalists are counted as musicians for the purpose of this
competition; solo/duo is any act with one or two musicians; vocalists
are counted as musicians for the purpose of this competition. Both
electric and acoustic instruments are allowed. At this local
competition, entrants will be judged by the same criteria used for the
International competition. Each band or solo/duo entry will have 25
minutes to perform and will be given points based on Blues Content,
Vocals, Talent, Originality and Stage Presence. For full details on
scoring criteria and official rules, see the Blues Foundation website

¯ Entrants will play one 25-minute set.
