Hello neighbours. Many of you will have heard about and/or seen that the
foxes in our neighbourhood are suffering from a form of mange -- they
have lost most of their hair, look thin and sickly. This form of mange
is unique to foxes and does NOT pose a danger to humans or other
animals. It is usually fatal to the foxes however and we know that one
of them has already died.
This week, Peggy Ritchie contacted the city and our counselor and the
message was passed on to Lynne Rowe,Wildlife Custodian, Holly's Haven
Wildlife Rescue in Dunrobin.
Lynne informed Peggy that someone named Joanne in our neighbourhood
contacted them and they provided her with medication that she was able
to give the fox. Apparently, the fox should get better over the next few
weeks. This would be wonderful because many of us had despaired of ever
seeing the foxes again.
If Joanne is on this list or if someone knows her, please let her know
that many are grateful for her quick action. Perhaps we can get some
coordination going to keep an eye on the fox (or foxes). As Lynne said
in her e-mail, they are beautiful and intelligent animals.
