National Capital Freenet Web/E-mail Crash from Friday to today
by BluesAndJazzGuy
Hi,
Just to keep you informed and in case you sent e-mail to bluesandjazzguy(a)ncf.ca since then, NCF encountered a major server equipment crash early Friday afternoon.
This affected initially both the web and e-mail systems.
Yesterday, web service was back, but e-mail although back on-line is still being worked on by NCF staff and volunteers. New e-mails are working OK, but whatever was in the system may or may not have been lost. Time will tell if the people working on it can capture and forward what was lost.If you sent anything in the time involved, please resend it so it can be taken care of.
NCF is supported by user and supportive local businesses with both fund and equipment donations that help offer normally a reasonably priced, reliable web and e-mail service.
Please be patient while the NCF people work to resolve the equipment breakdown that caused this outage and if you can help or have contacts that may be able to offer any surplus but usable equipment that might help prevent future this kind of exceptional failure for the first time in 15 years, please contact André Dalle at adalle(a)ncf.ca
More info at: http://www.ncf.ca/ncf/home/tools/status.jsp
Please note that this is a purely voluntary initiative on my part to hopefully do what I can
to help prevent a similar outage in future of NCF. Whatever you may be able to do on
your part is between you and whatever contact you establish with NCF.
