Just highlighting a few of events this week that are on the calendar.
a.. Wednesday 27 October - Steve Rowe is at the 12th edition of
Viree Blues Boreale. 8:00 pm - 12:00 am Steve Rowe

b.. Friday 29 October
- The Yohawks, a band from Ottawa, Canada, plays original music written by
band members Brad Campbell, Keith Richardson and Dave Poulin. Brian Bradfield
plays drums for the group, and helps provide the quartet with its signature sound.
Guitar driven, pop/rock tunes seasoned with more than a touch of rhythm and blues
make up the band's repertoire. http://www.yohawks.com
- St Joe's Mission and Become the Sun are at Rainbow Bistro
c.. Saturday 30 October
- Quicksand, a High Energy Show consisting of a fiery blend of rock, blues, and
original tunes presents a Rock in' 70s dance party with some very scary tunes for
all you gals and ghouls at Tucson's. Playing the sounds of Santana, Van Morrison,
The Doors, Steppenwolfe,Lynyrd Skynyrd and more for a high energy 70's style
rock show!
-The Jivewires: 50's Vegas Masquerade Bash Costumed themed Halloween Bash is
at Rainbow Bistro. Formed in 1989, The Jivewires have jumped many musical and
national borders. Taking their influence from the jazz and satire of 40's and 50's
greats Louis Jordan, Cab Calloway, Wynonie Harris and Louis Prima, The Jivewires
throw a new spin on the Jump Blues tradition. Hip Hop, Latin, Ska and Rock all
influence the band's original music within the Jump Blues idiom. With a high energy
show, 4 albums of original material and a 5th on the way, The Jives are keen to get
you jumpin' like you never jumped before!

Just highlighting a couple of events this week that are on the calendar.
a.. Thursday 21 October
- Peter Brown is at St James Gate, Carleton Place. Jazz is back on Thursday
nights at St James Gate in Carleton Place. The new format is once a month
on the third Thursday of the month. Hours are later, 8:30 pm to 11 pm, and
we're hoping for a good turnout to encourage the new owner to keep live music
happening. The format will be a different special guest and myself each
time. The first show is this Thursday, October 21 and the special guest is
virtuoso award-winning guitarist Lucas Haneman.
- JazzWorks Monthly Jam is at Carleton Tavern from 8:30 pm
to midnight.
b.. Saturday, 23 October - Doug Martin is at Swan-on-the-Rideau.
Located at 2730 River Rd. just outside Manotick. River Rd. is same as
Riverside Dr. Check the website: www.swanonrideau.ca
c.. Sunday 24 October
- Almonte Big Band Tea Dance is from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm. Combine
a scenic fall Sunday afternoon drive to Almonte with dancing to one of the area's
best big bands in an authentic period setting.

a.. Wednesday 6 October - The Jesse Greene Band is at the 12th edition
of Viree Blues Boreale - 8 pm to midnight 50 promenade Du Portage,
Gatineau (Quebec)
b.. Friday, 8 October - Jazz at Café Paradiso with Karin Plato Trio
- 8:30 pm - 10:30 pm Friday, $3 entertainment charge for diners,
$5 for non-diners. Karin Plato on vocals; John Roney - piano, Dominic
Painchaud - cello
Canadian jazz vocalist and composer Karin Plato is embarking on a tour
of Canadian cities this fall 2010 with her unique trio setting of voice,
cello and piano. The "Get Out of Town" tour is named for her brand
new release entitled Out Of Town, a double album of standards and
art-song material recorded with Effendi Label artist John Roney on
the piano and with a guest cellist and bassist.Location:
