Just highlighting a few events this week on Ottawa Blues and Jazz calendar.
a.. Sunday, February 27
- Almonte Big Band Tea Dance is at Almonte Old Town Hall at 14 Bridge
Street in Almonte. Combine a scenic Sunday afternoon drive to Almonte with dancing to one of
the area's best big bands in an authentic period setting.
- Mélissa Laveaux is at Les Brasseurs du Temps 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm. Reservations 819-205-4999 ext 1.

Camphor & Copper is proof that it can be done. I'd say that given Melissa Laveaux a few years and she'll

b.. Thursday 10 March - JazzWorks Monthly Jam one week early at Carleton Tavern, 223
Armstrong Street across from the Parkdale Market due to St. Patrick's Day
occurring on 17th. Its a great combination - great music by local jazz musicians, a comfortable
and friendly atmosphere, with lots of free parking and top notch pub food that's available into
the late evening. 8 pm to midnight-ish - Cover/Admission: $5. Proceeds support jam sessions and
JazzWorks scholarship.

b.. Thursday 17 February - JazzWorks Monthly Jam Carleton Tavern, 223 Armstrong

Just highlighting a few events this week on Ottawa Blues and Jazz calendar.
a.. Friday, February 4
- Come hear the smooth sounds of the Jazz Mutants performing a wide range
of jazz standards in the friendly and family-owned Mooney's Bay Bistro, offering delicious
homemade meals and desserts. There is no cover, and reservations are recommended.
b.. Saturday, February 5
- Maria Hawkins Band - New, bigger band is at at Rainbow Bistro 9:30 pm. 2 guitars, keys,
bass, drums, harp... check them out. Maria isalso hosting the Rainbow Bistro jam sunday.
c.. Sunday, February 6
- Hugh O'Connor Duo is at Chez Lucien 4 to 7 pm. This is one of Ottawa's longstanding
jazz gigs.
- Glebop Jazz Trio is at the Arrow & the Loon. Mellow jazz - 6 to 8 pm, Fifth Avenue,
just east of Bank St. -John Haysom - trumpet, Howard Tweddle - bass, Bert Waslander
- piano. Now in its Seventh Year at the Loon.
