RHYTHM CAFÉ
Concert/Coffee & Desserts/Silent Auction/drum workshop
Sunday November 27th, 2-4:30pm
On Sunday November 27th from 2-4:30pm at the Baobab Studio in Ottawa’s west end, Baobab Tree will host Rhythm Café- an exciting afternoon of West African drumming, dancing and singing performances, with an all ages drum workshop. The afternoon activities will be in a café setting, featuring homemade treats, coffee from Bridgehead Coffeehouse and hot chocolate from Camino, gift ideas with an African theme, and a silent auction.
The performances will feature our teenage drum and dance group, Baobab Youth Performers, our younger ROOTS class, and a special appearance by our new seniors drumming class.
Rhythm Café showcases the power of drumming and how it can build community while developing healthy and creative skills in people of all ages. Its always a fun afternoon for those who attend.
Proceeds raised go toward supporting Baobab’s educational programming.
Baobab Tree Drum Dance Community is a registered Canadian Charity and was formed in 1995.
Directed by Kathy Armstrong, Baobab Tree offer arts programming for all ages.
Their performances have supported local charities, and as well, educational trips to
Ghana, West Africa have enhanced the performers’ understanding of the culture and music.
The organization gets its name from the resilient and unusual African Baobab Tree.

Audiences have been raving about The Ultimate Musical Tribute to the Beatles, starring The Caverners. Le public a encensé le spectacle des Caverners, Ultimate Musical Tribute to the Beatles. Jusqu’ici, le concert se termine toujours de la même façon : les gens crient, tapent du pied et en redemandent. Tous les aspects du spectacle sont faits dans la plus grande authenticité, même l’accent liverpoolien. Les costumes et le matériel sont la réplique parfaite de ceux des Beatles, des amplificateurs British Vox aux guitares Rickenbacker et à l’incontournable batterie Ludwig de Ringo Starr. Eighties Alert!! 54-40 this SATURDAY
Truly a concert not to be missed!
54-40 is one of the most memorable bands to emerge from Canada! Celebrating its 30-year anniversary, 54-40 has a repertoire of signature hits including Baby Ran, I Go Blind, and Ocean Pearl that audiences everywhere love.
Led by main songwriter Neil Osborne, the band has established a reputation for its live performances that rock out with spontaneity. This ability to stay fresh keeps fans coming back for more. In thirty years, the band has toured throughout the world, and released 12 albums.
Lucky number 13, “Lost in the City”, is coming out this year – yet another milestone for 54-40, a band that has received numerous awards and achieved almost a dozen Top-10 hit singles.

Le groupe 54-40 est l’une des formations canadiennes les plus mémorables.
Célébrant son 30e anniversaire, 54-40 puise à son répertoire des pièces uniques telles « Baby Ran », « I Go Blind » et « Ocean Pearl » qui ont réjoui des auditoires de partout. Dirigé par l’auteur-compositeur Neil Osborne, le groupe doit sa réputation à ses prestations rock empreintes de spontanéité et à sa faculté de se renouveler, attirant des adeptes qui en redemandent.
En trente ans, 54-40 a fait des tournées mondiales et produit 12 albums.
