RHYTHM CAFÉ
Concert/Coffee & Desserts/Silent Auction/drum workshop
Sunday November 27th, 2-4:30pm
On Sunday November 27th from 2-4:30pm at the Baobab Studio in Ottawa’s west end, Baobab
Tree will host Rhythm Café- an exciting afternoon of West African drumming, dancing and
singing performances, with an all ages drum workshop. The afternoon activities will be in
a café setting, featuring homemade treats, coffee from Bridgehead Coffeehouse and hot
chocolate from Camino, gift ideas with an African theme, and a silent auction.
The performances will feature our teenage drum and dance group, Baobab Youth Performers,
our younger ROOTS class, and a special appearance by our new seniors drumming class.
Rhythm Café showcases the power of drumming and how it can build community while
developing healthy and creative skills in people of all ages. Its always a fun afternoon
for those who attend.
Proceeds raised go toward supporting Baobab’s educational programming.
Baobab Tree Drum Dance Community is a registered Canadian Charity and was formed in 1995.
Directed by Kathy Armstrong, Baobab Tree offer arts programming for all ages.
Their performances have supported local charities, and as well, educational trips to
Ghana, West Africa have enhanced the performers’ understanding of the culture and music.
The organization gets its name from the resilient and unusual African Baobab Tree.
