Follow the link for some live music opportunities listed this week on the
Ottawa Blues, Jazz & Swing Guide calendar
Besides those specifically listed here or on the calendar, there is info on
other venues' plans like Rainbow Bistro, Tucson's, Elmdale Tavern and Bass Line
Station etc. It can be found by clicking on venue links in the calendar to
access their schedules.

d.. Thursday 20 May
- JazzWorks Monthly Jam is at Carleton Tavern, 223 Armstrong
Street across from the Parkdale Market. Its a great combination - great music by
local jazz musicians, a comfortable and friendly atmosphere, with lots of free
parking and top notch pub food that's available into the late evening. 8 p.m. to
midnight-ish

All listeners, jammers, newcomers, and Jazz Campers are welcome!
- The Stellar Cast Blues Showcase is at Irene's 885 Bank St Ottawa Ont. Hosted

e.. Thursday 20 to Saturday 22 May - Check out Tucson's live music and other
offerings;
featured for example on Saturday is The BE Band
http://www.myspace.com/thebeband.
These musicians, all seasoned players, have been gracing stages around the area for
many years. Collectively they've gathered to pay tribute to the very foundation that
has inspired so many musicians over the years. There's soul and funk... with some
R&B
thrown in for good measure.
f.. Friday 21 May - SoulGrüv is at Greenfields. Ottawa-Gatineau's newest 12-piece
band,
provides audiences with the classic foot-tapping, bootie-shakin' rythmns of Stevie
Wonder,
Jamiroquai, Blues Brothers, Colin James, Etta James, Maceo Parker and many more.
You'll
also hear some of the newer R&B/soul sounds of Duffy, Anastacia and Sharon Jones and
the
Dapp Kings.
I only highlight a small number of events that are posted to the calendar.
Nowhere near everything is posted on the calendar as it's musician/venue
optional to post, and amend the listings as needed. However more info can be found
on the calendar including links to such venue web sites as Rainbow Bistro, Tucson's,
The Elmdale and Bass Line Station that usually have more detailed schedules.
It's also a good idea to call a venue to confirm that regular listings still apply
as they sometimes just quietly go away or may be cancelled due to weather disruptions.
