2 February 2011 Just highlighting a few events this week on Ottawa Blues and Jazz calendar. a.. Friday, February 4 - Come hear the smooth sounds of the Jazz Mutants performing a wide range of jazz standards in the friendly and family-owned Mooney's Bay Bistro, offering delicious homemade meals and desserts. There is no cover, and reservations are recommended. b.. Saturday, February 5 - Maria Hawkins Band - New, bigger band is at at Rainbow Bistro 9:30 pm. 2 guitars, keys, bass, drums, harp... check them out. Maria isalso hosting the Rainbow Bistro jam sunday. c.. Sunday, February 6 - Hugh O'Connor Duo is at Chez Lucien 4 to 7 pm. This is one of Ottawa's longstanding jazz gigs. - Glebop Jazz Trio is at the Arrow & the Loon. Mellow jazz - 6 to 8 pm, Fifth Avenue, just east of Bank St. -John Haysom - trumpet, Howard Tweddle - bass, Bert Waslander - piano. Now in its Seventh Year at the Loon.
