CU Debating: First meeting on Sep. 15

Are you ready to debate?
The first Carleton University Debating Society meeting of the 2004/2005
year will be September 15, 2004 at 6:00pm in room 520 Southam Hall. New
members will have the opportunity to find out more about the club and how
to debate. More experienced members will be able to brush off the
debating rust and run a few rounds.
The weekly meetings for Fall 2004 will be as follows:
Wednesdays @ 6:00 pm in 520 Southam Hall
Fridays @ 2:30 pm in 406 Dunton Tower

FALL MEETING TIMES
Without further ado, the long awaited meeting time announcement!
Meetings will be held twice weekly during the Fall term at the following
times:
Wednesday at 6:00 pm
Friday at 2:30 pm
The executive meeting is tentatively scheduled for 5:30 pm on Wednesday.
Room locations will be announced shortly.
HELP WITH RECRUITMENT TABLE
We will have recruitment tables set up for a couple of days in Baker's
Lounge as well as in Residence Commons during the first couple of weeks
of school. If you have a few hours during the week available to help us
out, please contact vpcom(a)carletondebate.org with your availability.
EXECUTIVE UPDATE
Due to personal reasons, the Vice President of Debate, Greta Hall, has
resigned. If you are interested in the position, please note that a
by-election will be held during the Novice Representative elections.

CHANGES TO SUMMER MEETINGS
Due to conflicting schedules, summer debate meetings will not be regularly
scheduled for the rest of this summer. Rather, meetings will be scheduled
on an ad hoc basis. If you would like to debate and want to arrange a
meeting, contact either post a message on CUSIDnet
(http://http://cusid.ca/community/viewforum.php?f=29) or contact the VP
Communications at vpcom(a)carletondebate.org.
Fall Semester meeting times will be organized in late August/early
September. Contact the executive (exec(a)carletondebate.org) if you want to
suggest a specific meeting time. Stay tuned.
CLASS TALKS
We will be doing class talks during the first couple of weeks of school to
recruit new members. If you are available in the beginning of September
and are willing to help do a quick presentation to first and second year
classes, please let us know by e-mail (vpcom(a)carletondebate.org) or post
on the relevant CUSIDnet thread.

DORCHESTER CUP TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR
In the fall CUDS will be electing a Tournament Director for the 2005 Lord
Dorchester Cup, our annual intervarsity debating tournament. We encourage
anyone who is interested to contact the Executive
