Debate: stuff.

Hello All, Couple of things. Rooms: The room for Wednesdays AND Fridays is now CO 211. That's in Residence Commons. Remember, Wednesdays are at 7 and Fridays are at 4. These are the rooms until the end of November, and will probably stay that way for the entire semester. If anything changes, I'll let you all know ASAP. Tournaments: Please sign up on CUSIDnet if you want to go to a tournament. Instructions are on the website (www.carletondebate.org). Yale: If you see Adam Coombs or Andrew Lawrence, congratulate them on making it to the finals at Yale's Invitational. This is an intensely competitive and is usually pretty big (the estimate I heard was 135-155 teams, which is massive). I'll have more news on speaking/team tab when it goes up on CUSIDnet. Debate: Debate Tournaments

Hello Everyone, the website (and exec emails) are down at the moment, so I'm sending this from my personal address. First off, as a reminder, if you want off this list, please send an email to my email address (calmly_insane(a)hotmail.com). Normally it'd be VP-Comm's account, but it's down. DO NOT just hit reply to this email because it's sent through a redirection list service and we won't get your email if you just hit the reply button. As soon as you send an email to the above address requesting to be off, you will be. For everyone else: Remember to sign up for Chancellor's (held by Queen's) and Guindon (held by Ottawa U). ANYONE who wants to go to Guindon will normally get to go because it's in Ottawa so no traveling is required. Sign-ups are no longer allowed via email, you need to sign up on CUSIDnet so we can see everyone at once. It's easy, just go to: www.cusid.ca/community Register for an account. Find our forum, send a PM to Adam or David (me) and ask to be let into our forum. We'll let you in! And there you can debate us online, add business meeting agendas (the only way you can, actually) and sign up for tournaments, and ask us questions. It's usually the best way to reach us. That's all. Debate: Hart House

It's a LOT of fun, you'll get some seriously awesome practice in and you'll most likely be judged by a fantastic judge you can give you good comments on your speaking. Debate: Hart House/Meetings

Hello Everyone, Congratulations to the Novices at getting through your first tournament. It sounded like a blast. There is a sign-up in our CUSIDnet forum for Hart House's Invitational. There are still a couple spots left, and if you want to get some really fantastic practice in, attend this tournament. It's almost 100 teams this year and is one of the most prestigious BP tournaments, if the not THE most in Canada. Send an email to any member of the exec if you're interested in attending. If we get a lot of interest, priority goes to those who have attended more meetings. That brings me to my next point. There is a meeting tonight at 7pm, like always, in Southam 313. Please go! -Dave

Debate: NOVICE MONTREAL TRIP INFO

Hello Everyone, If you are attending the Montreal trip (as a judge or a debater) and are not taking the Greyhound (you know who you are), then you should show up for NOON tomorrow at Rez Commons, by Abstentions. Please be no later than this. Registration is between 2 and 4 so we cannot be later than 4pm. If you are going to be drastically late, call someone or email us. But we'll have to leave before 2pm at the very very very latest. You'll be given your pairings tomorrow. There's no need for much prep between partners before the tournament as you get the resolutions 15 minutes before the round begins. I do advise you keep up on current topics though, you never know what a round might contain. If you have questions, you can email me at the vpcom account ( vpcom(a)carletondebate.org) remember replying to this email does NOT WORK. Or call me at 613-316-8577.
