CU Debating Society: Meetings Cancelled During Exam Period; When should the meetings be next semester?
by cuds@lists.ncf.ca
CU Debating Society Member,
The weekly debating society meetings are cancelled for the duration of the December exam period. Thanks to everyone who came out to our Wednesday and Friday meetings over these past months. The weekly debating sessions will resume in January with the resumption of classes. We want to know what times are good for you.
a.. Look at the meeting times as they stood this semester: http://CarletonDebate.org/viewnews.php?id=89
b.. Suggest changes as necessary to accommodate your schedule by posting to the CUDS online forum
c.. Vote on this issue on the poll on the main page of the CUDS web site
We are also interested in your feedback now that we are half-way through the year. Do you know what the debating society does? Should we run our meetings differently? All feedback on how we can improve is welcomed. Email the CUDS executive: exec(a)CarletonDebate.org or anonymously post to the CUDS message board.
Thanks,
Joshua Prowse

The CU Debating Society's annual Xerxes Cup high school tournament is this weekend - Friday and Saturday. The final rounds start at 4:00 on Saturday in room 360 of the Tory Building. If you are interested in seeing some great debaters performing at the top of their game, please come out and watch these final rounds (they'll take about 1.5 hours). Everyone is welcome. There is no need to register. More details are available on the tournament's web site xerxes.CarletonDebate.org.
Where and when Volunteers should arrive for the weekend's tournament
All judges and everyone who wants to volunteer this weekend at our high school tournament - the Xerxes Cup - should come to the Tory Building lobby at 4:00pm on Friday (our registration table will be near "the egg" - 360 Tory). At this time, we'll have training for judges and tell everyone about the schedule for the weekend.
a.. If you can't come at that time, and haven't already done so, please let us know
b.. If anyone can make it out earlier, please do come. Registration starts at 3:30. We'll be in that location from about 3:00 onwards.
c.. The tournament schedule is posted on the tournament's website xerxes.CarletonDebate.org

CU Debating Society: Xerxes Cup - Call for Volunteers and Judges for High School Tournament
by cuds@lists.ncf.ca
Hello all,
On November 21 and 22, 2003, the Carleton University Debating Society
will be holding our annual Xerxes Cup High School Debating Tournament.
It will be two days of debating for students from all over Ontario and
Quebec and an excellent opportunity for all CUDS members to support their
club!
We are looking for people to be volunteers [running results, possibly
driving to pick up food items, and other various jobs] as well as judges.
Anyone, despite their debating experience [and remember, no experience
is necessary!] can participate. If youve never debated before, this is
a great opportunity to learn and for those seasoned debaters, its a
great opportunity to work on judging skills.
If you are interested, please contact me with dates and times that you
can either volunteer or judge. Also, please feel free to pass this
message on to your friends! The more the merrier!
You can contact me a number of ways for more information about judging
and volunteering:
E-mail: grmhall(a)connect.carleton.ca
Phone : 247-1153 or 808-7487
You can also visit the CUDS website or the Official Xerxes page for more
information,

Hope to hear from you soon!
