*Nationals Organizing Committee*
We are currently taking applications for positions on the CUSID 2006
National Championships Organizing Committee. Although the
tournament is in March, there is plenty to do, starting this
summer. The following leadership positions are available:
<>Fundraising Coordinator
Food Coordinator
Banquet Coordinator
Social Director (assisting Aaron Rodericks)
Volunteer Coordinator(s)
Equity Officers
We also need lots of people to help out, beyond these positions.
However, those on the organizing committee will have a direct say in
how the tournament will be run. If you are interested or have any
questions at all, e-mail us at *nationals(a)carletondebate.org*.
*Results from the 2005 CUDS AGM*
On April 6, 2005, the sixth CUDS Annual General meeting took place.
At the meeting, the Society's general membership elected a new
executive, approved constitutional and by-law amendments and
discussed policy initiatives for next year.
The Executive for 2005/2006 are as follows:
*President *- Benjamin Piper (president(a)carletondebate.org)
*Vice President Administration* - Jordan Charbonneau
(vpadmin(a)carletondebate.org)
*Vice President Communications* - Dan Meester (vpcom(a)carletondebate.org)
*Vice President Internal *- Jessica Scorpio (vpi(a)carletondebate.org)
*Vice President External* - Wayne Chu (until August 31)
(vpx(a)carletondebate.org)
Jordan Charbonneau and Jessica Scorpio were elected Xerxes
Tournament Co-Directors, and Wayne Chu and Michael Powell were
elected CUSID National Championships Tournament Co-Directors.
However, due to the resignation of Wayne Chu, Michael Powell will be
the sole Tournament Director for Nationals. The Novice
Representative will be elected next fall.
In addition to elections, constitutional and by-law amendments took
place. These include a change in the Executive structure, the
redefinition of a member, changes to voting privileges in Business
Meetings, and conditions on any monetary awards received at external
tournaments. As well, a Team Selection Policy for those wishing to
attend the World Championships in Dublin next January was approved.
See the Constitution <http://www.carletondebate.org/constitution>
and By-Law <http://www.carletondebate.org/bylaws> pages for more
information.
Finally, graduating member and past-president, Andrew Christie, has
been granted Honourary Membership with the Society. We all would
like to thank him for his contributions to the club over the years.
