Debate: Novice Championships
by Carleton University Debating Society
Hey All!
This is mostly important for all Novices:
Novice Championships, the ONE tournament you'll want to attend this semester
if you attend only one, provides you with an excellent set of training and
skills development in debate.
If you want to attend, please let someone at the exec know immediately. Send
an email to the exec, The CUDS Executive can be reached at:
exec(a)carletondebate.org
Or, send an email to any one of the specific exec emails. But please, do so
ASAP, as the tournament is OCTOBER 2-4. This is THIS weekend. We'll be
leaving on Friday sometime around 2 or 3. It is imperative you email us
soon, I can't stress that enough. I apologize for this email coming last
minute.
If you would like to gain access to our forums to have earlier knowledge of
tournaments and/or have input on decisions/agendas/what have you, then just
go to:
http://www.cusid.ca/community
Create an account.
Send a PM to David Tucker (me) or Adam Coombs and ask to be let into the
Carleton Forum. If you don't do this, you can't get in to our forum.
For Pros/Everyone:
Sign-ups for Hart House are on the forum. Also, Meetings will soon be at a
concrete place and not be moving around. All info should be on the facebook
group or on the website. That's all.

Debate: Novice Training Day
by Carleton University Debating Society
Hello All,
This is one last reminder that tomorrow is Novice Training Day. That means
Saturday, September 26, 2009. Please be there no later than 9:00 am, and
meet us in the Tory Building, room 230.
There's going to be free pizza.
Also, this is where the sign up for Novice Championships will happen, so
please try and make it for your benefit. If not, sign up on CUSIDnet or just
email any member of the exec (not by replying to this email, but sending an
email to vpcom(a)carletondebate.org or any other members of the executive
which are listed on the website).
For Pros: Be there early as well.
Free Pizza!

Debate: Novice Training Day, etc.
by Carleton University Debating Society
Hello Everyone,
As a reminder, Novice Training Day is SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 26th, 2009.
Waleed has informed me that the the meeting time will be 9:00 am sharp (any
later and you might miss a round). For now, the room we're going to use for
the meeting place is Tory Building 230. I'll send another e-mail IF it
changes, but if not, then these times/places will be firm. If you can't make
it to the training day (if you're a novice), it's okay, but it will help you
prepare for tournaments and give you a LOT more practice. Also, free food!
The sign up for the Novice Championships in Montreal should be happening
there as well, so you should all really attend.
Finally, to clarify Wednesday meetings. There is no meeting next Wednesday
because of the show debate. It's not in Alumni Hall, it's in Kalish Mital
theater (the theater on the main floor in Southam where the biggest classes
are held). Remember it starts at 7:00pm sharp.
For the novices, if you want to get into the CUSIDnet forum, go to
www.cusid.ca/community. Create an account, and sent a Private Message to me
(username is David Tucker) or Adam Coombs (username is Adam Coombs). You
have to do that if you want to be let into the Carleton Forum (this is where
we do sign-ups for tournaments, talk about business meetings, etc).
That's all.

Debate: Friday/Training Day
by Carleton University Debating Society
Hello All,
This is to remind you (if you haven't checked the facebook group or website
at carletondebate.org) that Friday meetings will be at 4pm. There is one
this Friday the 18th, and it is in room 208 in Rez Commons. This is
confirmed for the first THREE meetings ONLY. The meeting for Wednesday the
23rd is in room 313 of Southam Hall.
Reminder about the public debate: It is taking place next Wednesday,
September 23rd, at 7pm, in Alumni Theater. Ask around if you don't know
where it is (I believe it's Southam though). Come watch a debate about the
existence of God!
To the novices that didn't come out Wednesday, come out Friday and meet
everyone!
Also, Novice Training Day is taking place SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 26th. Please
make it out if you want to learn how to debate properly (with etiquette and
all that stuff). It isn't mandatory, but helps greatly. I will send yet
another email when we get confirmation on rooms and times.
That is all.

Debate: Hello Everyone!
by Carleton University Debating Society
Hello Everyone,
The rooms for the next few Wednesday meetings have been confirmed to our
VP-Admin.
The first meeting is this Wednesday, September 16th, at 7pm. It will be in
CO 210 (that's the Rez Commons Building!) There'll be a show debate for the
novices.
To avoid confusion, I'll let you all know the rooms for later Wednesdays at
a different date. They'll be posted on the website (www.carletondebate.org)
and on the Facebook Group. Friday times/places are still pending.
Hope to see you all there,
Dave
