4) North-Ams Update
5) Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays
1) $20 Tournament Fee
At the last business meeting of the year the club voted to reinstate the $20
tournament fee to be paid before attending each tournament. This was regular
practice for the past two years and starting with Worlds this policy will
again be applied. Please see CUSIDnet for relevant details regarding payment
for upcoming tournaments.
2) CP Novice Training Day
We will be hosting a CP Novice Training Day on January 12th. Ian Freeman,
the top speaker in North America and our CA for North Ams will be there
along with Mike Powell, former national quarter-finalist, to give a seminar
on debating in Canadian Parliamentary style. As well they will be able to
answer any questions pertaining to debate in general. This is a perfect
opportunity for anyone who is interested in joining debate and wasn't able
to in the first semester. The day will also include at least two practice
rounds judged by pros. It should be a fantastic day and we look forward to
seeing you in January.
3) Winter Carnival
The application deadline has passed for Winter Carnival, thank you to
everyone who applied. Currently we have 4 teams and 2 judges registered with
one more team on a waiting list. Since we have over 14 people who have
applied this unfortunately means that the TSC will have to cut some people.
The TSC will meet once school begins again and make its decision which will
be announced on CUSIDnet. If you aren't selected then we encourage you to
sign up for other tournaments in the semester which you will be given
priority for.
4) North-Ams Update
We are still looking for sponsorship so for everyone who agreed to help out,
please complete your sponsorship applications ASAP. As well please approach
local grocery stores regarding funding. All of this is greatly appreciated
and contributes to making a successful tournament. Again, everyone who has
received club money is expected to participate.
The contact information for all the tournament organization committee
members will be posted shortly on CUSIDnet. Please contact the relevant
person depending on what you would like to help out with.
5) Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays
Here's wishing a Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and Happy Holidays to
everyone in CUDS. We'll be back in January and make sure to keep checking
CUSIDnet for important details.
