CU Debating Society: Annual General Meeting Today

CUDS Members, Annual General Meeting Agenda This is the agenda for tonight's AGM. Everyone is welcome to come out. We still need someone for the Vice President for Debate position. You can add items to the agenda at the meeting. Essentially, we want to find out how we did this past year and look at how we can improve next year. All suggestions will be treasured. 1) Statements by Exec: -Novice Rep -Secretary-Treasurer -VPFundraising -VPDebate -VPcommunications -President 2) Constitutional Amendments a) A motion to create a Touranment Results archive: Quote: Past Tournament Results By-Law 1. The Society shall maintain an accurate and accessible record of past tournament results dating back no less than 2 (two) academic terms prior to the current date. 2. Participants who attend subsidized tournaments shall report his or her results to the Secretary-Treasurer within two weeks of the date of the tournament. b) Motion to reword Section III(7): Remove the italicized: Section III, Article 7 wrote: All students of Carleton University are welcome to become a member of the Society, with the exception of students demonstrated to have been involved in the circumstances resulting in the decertification of the Carleton Dorchester Debating Union. The Chair of any Business or Debating meeting shall be empowered to remove any person who disrupts any proceedings, or acts in a threatening or abusive manner c) Creation of "Tournament Director" Positions -to be created as SEction III, Article 4, and read as follows: Quote: In addition, the Society shall elect Tournament Director(s) who shall be responsible for coordinating and organizing CUDS hosted events, such as the Xerxes and Dorchester Cups. Tournament Directors shall operate as officers of the club, and be responsible to the executive, not members of it. A Tournament Director may also concurrently sit on the Executive d) Executive Transfer - following elections section: Quote: Upon completion of the election, the newly elected executives shall take their respective offices three weeks thereafter.
