Meetings Resume Following Reading Week Break
The weekly CUDS meetings resume following the reading week break at their regular times
and places.
CUDS has two weekly regular meetings in 411 Southam Hall at 5:30pm Wednesday & 2:30pm
Friday. Everyone is welcome to come out; no experience is required. Feel free to come
late or leave early if necessary. These meetings are in addition to CUDS President Mike
Powell's case-building session in the Mike's Place grad bar every Wednesday
between 1:00 and 2:30 pm.
Confirmation of Dorchester Cup Volunteers List
Carleton's Lord Dorchester Cup is coming up on the weekend of March 5-7. Mark this
date on your calendars! The following people are signed up to volunteer at the tournament.
Email Dorchester Volunteers Co-ordinator Marion if you want to volunteer (even for only
part of the weekend) and are not on the list. Also, as you have been told, must email
Marion to confirm that you will be available, even if you're on this list!

Call for interest in attending Nationals at McGill
If you would like to attend the 2004 Canadian National Debating Championships from March
19-21 at McGill University in Montréal, express interest by posting to the relevant thread
on the CUDS forum. View the CUDS schedule to see how this tournament fits into our year.
If you do not have access to the forum, sign up and then email me your user name to be
granted access.
CUDS Executive Elections
At the end of this semester, CUDS will elect our executive for the 2004-05 school year.
Keep these elections in mind. These are the positions and their attendant
responsibilities, straight from the CUDS constitution:
a.. President - Responsible for overall leadership of the Society, coordination of
executive duties, chairing meetings, communications with CUSID and the University. Will be
the vote holder for CUSID meetings. Official voice of the Society. Tie breaking vote in
cases of ties. May delegate responsibilities as need be.
b.. Vice-President Communications - Responsible for recruitment and promotions. Also
responsible for maintenance of web site. Responsible for keeping membership informed of
all upcoming events. Will also liaison with external groups (i.e. other debating
societies, media, etc.) with regards to CUDS events.
c.. Vice-President Debate - Responsible for organizing CUDS participation in external
debating events and organizing internal CUDS events.
d.. Vice-President Fundraising - Responsible for fundraising initiatives both external
and internal to the University.
e.. Secretary Treasurer - Responsible for keeping and maintaining Society records and
managing Society funds.
f.. Novice Representative - Represents and works for the concerns of new, inexperienced,
and novice members of the Society.
The CUDS Annual General Meeting where such elections occur is usually held in early April.
If you are interested in running for a position, let the CUDS community know by posting
to the relevant thread on the CUDS forum.
