Hello all,
Firstly, this is a reminder in case you haven't received an invite to the
event on Facebook that there's a public debate happening this Thursday,
January 21st. It's from 7:00-8:30 pm in Mackenzie 2360. The topic is: Should
Canadian officials be held responsible for the treatment of Afghan
detainees? The debate will feature a guest speaker, MP Paul Dewar! It'll be
a great event, so try and make it out and bring all of your friends!
Secondly, for those novices that have not signed up on CUSIDnet yet (there
were a couple of you on Friday!), here's how:
1) Go to
www.cusid.ca/community
2) up at the top, click the Register button to create an account.
3) go through the motions, pick a screen name, etc.
4) You'll now be allowed to post in the main forum, however you're still
blocked from Carleton's forum for privacy restrictions, so all you have to
do is click on one of the moderator's names (the screen names should read
sheliza-CU, A.Law, or David Tucker) and send a Private Message to any of
them (I can let you in, I'm not entirely sure about Sheliza or Andrew
though). When we get your PM asking to be let in, we'll let you in, and
you'll have access to our forum.
CUSIDnet is essential because it helps you keep up to date with all of our
meeting times, public debates, etc, and it is the only way you can sign up
for tournaments. There are still a few tournaments to sign up for as well,
so be quick!
Finally, although most of the club will be in Montreal for McGill's Winter
Carnival tournament, there will still be a meeting on Friday at 4, in the
regular room (CO 213). I'll be there in case anyone shows, and so will a
couple others. If you haven't come to a meeting yet, or have only come once
or twice, that's the perfect chance if you want to try and hone your skills.
That's it folks, cheerio. Email me at vpcom(a)carletondebate.org if you have
questions.
