Winter meeting times and locations
This winter, CUDS will meet every week in 303 Dunton Tower:
a.. 5:30pm Wednesday
b.. 2:30pm Friday
Don't be overwhelmed - you don't have to come out to both meetings. We hope that
one of the dates and times will work with your schedule. Everyone is welcome to come out;
no experience is required. Feel free to come late or leave early if necessary.
The time and location of the weekly executive business meeting will be announced next
week.
Panda Debate with University of Ottawa
This weekend, January 9-11, CUDS and the University of Ottawa's English Debating
Society will hold our annual Panda Debate Tournament. This tournament is a showdown
between Carleton and Ottawa U. This informal tournament will not cost anything (except
maybe for your share of pizza or something). If you would like to participate, e-mail CUDS
Panda Debate Organizer Wayne Chu - wayne(a)freethought.ca - ASAP. On Friday, rounds will be
held on the second floor of the Tory Building at Carleton University. The schedule is as
follows:
Friday (2nd Floor of Tory Building at Carleton Campus)
6:30 - 7:30 pm Round 1
7:30 - 8:30 pm Round 2
Saturday (Held on Ottawa U Campus)
10 - 11 am Round 3
11 am - 12 pm Round 4
12 - 1 pm Lunch
1 - 2 pm Final Round
2 - ?? Awards, drinking, etc.
This tournament is highly recommended for everyone. It should be a lot of fun for those
who want to get back into debating this winter, and for those without much experience.
Watch the CUDS web site -
www.CarletonDebate.org - for the latest updates on the
tournament.
Dorchester Cup Volunteers
The Carleton University Debating Society is hosting the Dorchester Cup, our annual
tournament for other universities the weekend of March 5-7. This is a huge undertaking,
and we need all the hands we can get - even if you have little or no debating experience!
We need judges, runners, and people to help with various tasks during the weekend. If you
are available for the weekend (preferably all of it, but if not, at least part of it),
please email Dorchester Volunteer Coordinator Marion (treblenoi(a)hotmail.com). Please mark
this date on your calendars.
