Registration for classes is coming up soon, so a general note about Fall
meeting times. CUDS traditionally has two meetings per week with one on
Tuesday or Wednesday evening, and the other on Friday afternoon.
Once you have your schedule planned, we welcome input on the exact Fall
meeting times. Contact vpcom(a)carletondebate.org.

to recruit new members. If you are available in the beginning of
September and are willing to help do a quick presentation to first and
second year classes, please let us know by e-mail

DORCHESTER CUP TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR
In the fall CUDS will be electing a Tournament Director for the 2005
Lord Dorchester Cup, our annual intervarsity debating tournament. We
encourage anyone who is interested to contact the Executive
(exec(a)carletondebate.org) if you have any questions about the position.
The Tournament Director (TD) is one of the most important positions in
the society and will be in charge of organizing and running the
tournament, being held March 4-6, 2005. The TD, with the aid of the
Executive, will be responsible for assembling and managing an organizing
committee, drafting a budget totaling around $10,000, and running all
aspects of the tournament. The position reports to the VP Debate.
Candidates should possess strong managerial skills and be able to adapt
to quickly changing situations. People considering running for the
position should be ready to present their ideas and plans for the
tournament to the general membership early in the fall. The position is
a time consuming one during the 2 months leading up to the actual date
of the tournament so candidates should consider their work load/schedule
accordingly.
The position is a great experience and resume builder and more than
satisfies the involvement aspect of the Team Selection Policy for
tournaments. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact the
Executive at exec(a)carletondebate.org.
