1. Xerxes
Carleton's Fifth Annual Xerxes Cup Tournament took place this past weekend
with great success. Over 40 local area high schools and even a few not so
local ones contributed teams, making this tournament one of the biggest ever
run by CUDS. The show round held on the Friday evening, showcasing the
talents of the likes of Ben Piper and Adam Coombs as the government, and
Ryan Androsoff and Mike Powell as opposition, was very much amusing, causing
the audience to repeatedly break out into full-fledged laughter. The food
with discounts contributed by the Great Canadian Bagel, Fat Albert's, Loeb,
et. al. was very popular, and proved to be more than a match for the
collective appetite.
All in all, the Xerxes tournament was a great success, thanks to the Chief
Adjudicator Mike Powell, Chief Tabs Officer Wayne Chu and especially
tournament co-directors Jessica Scorpio and Jordan Charbonneau, as well as
the countless volunteers who made this tournament run as smoothly as
possible. Excellent work; this experience will contribute much towards CUDS
hosting Nationals in March.
2. Winter Carnival and NORAM applications
If you are interested in representing Carleton at the Winter Carnival
(McGill U., January 20-22) or North American Championship (U of T, January
27-29) tournaments, please post your interest on CUSIDnet or contact the

3. Meeting times for next semester
The CUDS executive will soon be deciding on a new evening meeting time for
next semester. If you have any preferences as to what evenings work or
don't work for you, please post them on the CUSIDnet thread.
