Hi everyone,
My deepest apologies to Andrew Lawrence and Chris Hannay - we have two more
candidates for the Novice Rep position! Here are their platforms:
Andrew Lawrence wrote the folowing:
As the results were announced, we all stood applauding, as one by one, every
top tier placement had one thing in common, our school.
Was that a recollection of my past, or a prophecy of the future? Even in the
dark of night, it was as clear to me as the western sky from out on the
ranch. It was both. Friends, I have a vision. We take this society to the
next level, standing with three fold the number of active members, sending
teams ( yes, that is plural) to every major tournament. Plundering wherever
we go, riding back with proverbial saddle bags full of hardware (literaly if
you want, too).
But where do I fit into all of this? As the captain of my highschool team in
Alberta, and provincial champion, I worked tirelessly to promote and
facilitate debate, going from junior high to junior high promoting our club,
getting us sponsored when we hosted the worlds, or wading through the
bureaucracy to get our team what we needed from the school and the board. In
my days at highschool, I stood applauding as one by one members of my team
came up to accept thier awards in their catagories, and myself in mine. But
debate is more than about results, we also had one hell of a time while we
were doing it, our parties were legendary, and even at the tournaments other
teams flocked to us for a good time. And I've got some Ideas to keep debate
a blast here.
In short, I have the tools, I can rebuild it, make it party harder, last
longer, and finish stronger.
My oponents are indeed excellent guys. But I also have Irrefutable proof
that they were once members of the communist party, and are associates of
associates who are friends of friends who once spent the night on the lawn
of an Al-Queda member.
Working with the rest of the exec, this cowboy make sure that Carletons
debate team continues to rise like the sun, and prepare for High Noon. Give
your votes, and I'll show you how the west was won.

Hi. My name is Chris Hannay, and I would like to be your novice
representative. I'm a first year journalism student, and one hell of a guy.
Now, obviously the first question is whether or not you should vote for me.
The simple answer is yes. The slightly more complicated answer is yes,
because of some of my experience, and also the fact that I'm one hell of a
guy.
What kind of experience do I have? Well, in high school, I was a two-year
member of my school's Reach For The Top team. We came in first in our region
(Thames Valley), and 13th in the whole province. Also in high school, I ran
the student newspaper for 2 years, which just shows you how good I am at
representing other people, as well as the level of organisation I had to
have. I could go on, but I'm sure those two examples help to show how I'm
one hell of a smart and organised guy.
So, remember... vote for Chris Hannay. He's one hell of a guy.
Come on out to tonight's meeting at 7:30 in Loeb D487 for tonight's
election!
