This weekend was a great success, and we could not have done it without
your support. So, both on behalf of the Carleton University Debating
Society and myself, thank you to everyone who volunteered their time out
of their busy schedules to judge, run, haul stuff around, and generally
make themselves available to us. Many participants told me that they
had a wonderful time – indeed the fact that we finished on time on
Saturday is testament to the hard work you all put in. For our second
university-level tournament ever, you all exceeded my expectations.
Specifically, I would like to thank the following people specifically:
- Allen for giving us the guidance and experience we needed
- Mike Powell for pairing judges
- Mike Dewar for working Tabs
- Marion for coordinating the volunteers
- Andrew for providing some excellent and tasty food
- Aaron for hosting an awesome party and organizing a great banquet
- Padraic for running around and doing my bidding
- Josh for handling the ballots, including our little snafu
- Dan for organizing public speaking
- Ben for lending us his computer
- Jerrett for handling the Minglewoods Party, and all the other little jobs
- Jeff for lending his car out
- Emilie for running and doing the crappy jobs that come with running
- Bart for inviting dinos and all the dinos who came out, including
Scott, Grant, Greg, Paul, Pods, and anyone else I missed
Big thanks to everyone for putting up with me being an asshole all
weekend. If I forgot anyone, I am truly sorry and will attribute it to
me being incredibly tired right now… :)
Finally, as a thank you to you, and a thank you to Phil from Fat
Albert’s, I’d like to go out to Fat Albert’s on Bank Street this weekend
to drink, eat, and celebrate another job well done. Let me know the
best times for you (think weekend). Marion – I want you there, so let
us know when you’re not performing. And oh yeah, everyone go see Sock
‘n Buskin’s presentation of Tommy, opening this week. :)
So from one incredibly tired, but immensely satisfied, Tournament
Director, congratulations, well done, and thank you.
Sincerely,
Wayne
